Working together we can fund and build a skatepark at
Crane Park. It's an
ideal location for a skatepark because it is
owned by the City, is highly visible and will
meet the recreational needs of our diverse
community. When completed the skatepark will
be managed by the City of St. Helena.

WE
ARE ELATED!!!!
ST. HELENA
SKATEPARK
APPROVED!!!!!
September 23 - Tonight at the City Council Meeting, the Council, after considerable comment, approved the Skatepark at Crane Park. This means that we can break ground this fall, with the Skatepark open (hopefully) by April 2009.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Skatepark, spoke at the meetings and all of those who have contributed time, money, effort and experience to this great community effort.
In particular, we'd like to acknowledge those who have had second thoughts about the current location of the Skatepark at Crane Park. We recognize your concerns and hope that we have addressed most, if not all of them. One of St. Helena's greatest attributes is that we live in a community where individuals are free to propose a skatepark, oppose a skatepark and ultimately, embrace a skatepark.
Thanks to everyone for Getting on Board!!!

St. Helena Planning Commission votes to
recommend that the City Council approve
the
Skatepark
at
Crane
Park
Tuesday September 16, 2008, in a 4-0 vote (one abstension), the St. Helena Planning Commission voted to recommend that the City Council approve the Skatepark at Crane Park (mitigated negative declaration, use permit amendment and design approval).
Thanks to everyone who showed up and in particular, thanks to those who spoke.
One week from tonight, Tuesday, September 23rd, the City Council will vote on whether to approve all of the above as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Skatepark and the City.
And with that - we are a building permit away from construction...
What an amazing project this has been, thanks to everyone who has committed time, energy, money, experience and the like. Special thanks to the staff at the City as well as to Denise, Julie, Ric, Don and Pam - and for everyone else for GETTING ON BOARD!!

VERY IMPORTANT St. Helena City Council Meeting
Tuesday, September 16th, 7PM at Vintage Hall
PLEASE ATTEND - On Tuesday the 16th, the
Planning Commission is being asked to recommend
to the City Council that it officially approve
the construction of the Skatepark at Crane
Park. As many of you know, the City Council
gave a thumbs-up to the location of the
Skatepark on August 26th and urged us to move
forward and build the park without delay. Over
100 people attended the meeting to show their
support of the park, and no one spoke against
the Skatepark location at that meeting.
At last week's City Council meeting, one individual spoke against the Skatepark's location at Crane Park due to its proximity to the Tot Lot. She has suggested that it be located in the field between the Bocce Courts and the redwood grove or moved to Meilly or Wappo Park. These alternate locations have been evaluated and considered on many occasions and the City Council has affirmed that Crane Park is the best location for the Skatepark and that the area we have proposed is the most viable location within Crane Park.
In order be sure the project remains on track with our goal to break ground in mid-October, we need your support at this key meeting. Skaters, parents, friends and family are all encouraged to attend.
If you can't attend but would like to show your support for the Skatepark at its proposed location within Crane Park, feel free to call or email Planning Commission member(s) before the meeting, cynthiac@ci.st-helena.ca.us
