“One of the ongoing problems with the City of
St. Helena is that there is a shortage of
activities for our young people (and young at
heart) in which to become productively
engaged. The City can be extremely thankful for
the efforts of a dedicated group of citizens
who have expended a lot of time, money and energy
in organizing the effort to construct a skatepark
for the city..." "On behalf of the City of St.
Helena, I would like to encourage all citizens to
dig into their pockets and help complete the
funding requirements so that this park can be
completed in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you
all.”
“Consciously or subconsciously, this project
will touch every child in St Helena. This is much
bigger than a skatepark. this project is
unifying the community around our youth; it's a
springboard for the community to answer the need
for teens who need more options."
“As the original donor of the Dorothy Gard
Stateboard Park at Crane Park, I am so pleased that
now our community has a chance to build a "real"
skateboard park through your organization. I
support your efforts fully and will continue to
follow your efforts in making the Skatepark a
reality. Thank you all."
“The new skatepark will provide the youth of
St. Helena a place they can call their own. It will
also keep the skaters and community safe by
providing a specific area for the skaters to have
fun.”
“Skateboarding is a totally creative outlet
for kids. I wish people could respect that
it’s a skill you have to master. It’s
very physical. It takes plenty of motivation and
hard work, as much as other conventional sports. I
want a real destination for kids where they can
keep going with their passion for skateboarding. A
place to go that’s safe and positive, and you
have a community.”
“When my wife asked me what I wanted for my
birthday, I told her I wanted a skateboard so I
could get ready for the new skatepark.”
